Seems like the Republicans are going to implode on this stimulus package opposition. Appealing to the same tired base of government haters that they lost the election with last year. When the economy has recovered in 2010 and its time to elect a new Congress, people will remember the Republicans that opposed the recovery bill.

Great speech by Obama tonight. The guy knows how to command the room. Remember watching Reagan address Congess 25 years ago? Could you imagine back then having Obama standing up there giving a rousing speech. Unthinkable in those days. We've come a long way. Now let's get our economy out of the ditch.

Speaking of the economy. Perhaps we should look at our standard of living instead of the ups and downs of the economy. I'd say all Americans, rich and poor, are better off than they were say 25 years ago. Our standard of living has improved. So what if we have to cut back on personal spending for another year during the economic downturn. We're better off than ever on balance.
