Why is that durable piece of paper with the nice print job in your wallet worth anything? Because everybody thinks its worth something? How much was the Baht and the Ringgit worth six months ago, how much are they worth now and why is that different. Why were coins, (exc penny, nickel) made mostly of silver 33 years ago, (and why did the Romans make the same changes) now pot metal and why was a Hershey bar two for a dime and now two for a buck? What changed? Answer these questions and you can tell me what gold is worth...
This is indeed an age of new paradigms but it is really too soon to throw gold on the scrapheap of barbarous history. Instead, go to the gates and keep a lookout, those barbarians may be back!:-)
