>> You mean the stimulus package? No. Why did you think it was?

Apparently, Reid believes it is there. When asked to comment on his role in getting the money for his state, he had this to say:

"It's amazing. I'm stunned," he said in an interview Friday, hours before the bill passed Congress. "I'm glad I get the credit in Nevada, but this is Obama's No. 1 priority. This is his legacy issue out of this bill, because we need these high-speed corridors. ... I'll take credit but frankly didn't have much to do with it other than carry forward with what Obama wanted."

Apparently, Mary Bono thinks it is:

WASHINGTON - A last-minute provision added to President Barack Obama's $787 billion stimulus plan could literally steer revenue away from Inland Southern California -- and directly to Sin City, Rep. Mary Bono Mack said.

One of the final changes to the bill before passage earlier this month was the inclusion of $8 billion for high-speed rail programs. In previous versions of the bill, spending for high-speed rail was capped at $2 billion. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who helped negotiate the bill, said he made the change at the request of Obama.
