Sheila Bair on CNBC town hall meeting:

"We need to acknowledge borrowers made mistakes, lenders made mistakes, servicers made mistakes, the government made mistakes..but we need to acknowledge someone is going to get bailed out whether it's a borrower, whether it's a bank, we're all going to have to take responsibility and make some contributions"...

WTF, aren't the liars and cheats supposed to be prosecuted? She never mentioned that, even in passing. How the hell can anyone call outright fraud a mistake and expect to be taken seriously? Why should I take responsibility for the criminal acts of others? Where in the Constitution or Bill of Rights does it state that I am responsible for the personal debts of my neighbors or my crooked banker or mortgage officer? I believe this AM Barney Frank mentioned the word "gallows" in reference to what people thought should happen to Wall Street criminals. For the bankers, we could use the dull blade.
