The tax hikes that the Obama administration have proposed are completely unproductive, and will not encourage the growth of our economy. The incentive to do well is completely taken away. Many small businesses will have absolutely no incentive to continue to hire, or to try to build their business.

Lowering mortgage deductions takes away the incentive to buy a home, and taking away the charitable deductions will severely hurt donations. The fact that a tax credit is allowed for buying a new car for those with a certain income, but not for those with a higher income makes no sense. If the administration wants people to buy new cars, the deductions should be the same for every taxpayer.

Obama's health care plan is another area where he obviously doesn't understand how to "fix" the system. From your statement: "never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity". Maybe they aren't try to stick it to anyone, maybe they just aren't that smart. I'm not sure which is worse.

I wonder how many tax payers are going to elect to take a lower salary to avoid the ~penalty~ of being successful? How many tax payers in the upper income brackets are going to cut back on their charitable giving? (I would think quite a few.)

I think the Obama administration has greatly underestimated the anger of the average tax payer. Many are tired for paying for programs where there seems to be the overall attitude of "entitlement".
