If you are fluent in a language, that is, you can speak it easily, you have already learned the language. Presumably these kids learned it at mama's knee. They are past learning the language. What they are doing is increasing the sophistication with which they practice it. I have used a Swahili dictionary and a Mayan dictionary without previous knowledge of the language. I can't imagine learning the language that way. The best you can do is look up the occasional word or check spelling. And it sure doesn't help with grammar. I can't imagine doing that without a teacher.

Just as English speakers do not understand (already) what would be taught in AP English.

There's no point in taking the class if you already understand what is to be taught.

This is way past silly.
