Hmmm. Yes, the market has known for five months that Obama would be President. And for four of those five months, Bush was President. Did the Bush administration provide any reason for businesses to do anything but hunker down for the unknown in those four months? What about in the many months before?

And is there some reason to have expected Obama to remove all unknowns from the shaky economy he inherited in just four weeks?

Meanwhile, the carbon tax is not a "power grab." It's a serious attempt to do something about CO2 emissions, using the method that is actually preferred by most conservatives and libertarians.
