The private sector suspended risk management in a quest for greater short-term profits, and many big outfits died as a result. The problem was that they put the whole system at jeopardy, and cannot be trusted with hands-off deregulation now. There is no reason to believe those clowns wouldn't find a new way to do exactly what they did in the last few bubbles all over again.
