I can remember when the big thing was to call my aunt who lived in Virginia on Christmas. The whole family would talk on that call. Long distance was very expensive and not done much back then.

Back when I was in the army and about to get married my bride to be called me in Germany and reversed the charges. That probably cost the army about $200.
