<Agricultural Labor Relations Board>

I believe that the legislature and congress should use qualifications for these jobs. Heading a committee or working on a Ag Board doesn't make you aware of the environment, in fact these people end up being influenced by lobbyists (on both sides of the issue out on the golf courses they approve extensions for) because they have no personal knowledge of the subject. People regulating banks should have finance and accounting backgrounds. People regulating the environment should have an environmental background.

This is one of the many things what is wrong government, it is rule by the connected rather than by the qualified. It isn't just government; I see it happen in industry - people that really have no background in a subject end up working in it. They frequently don't even spend the time self-teaching and learning the vocabulary, they just start working. Nobody seems to think this is odd - we have people that start doing something while having no experience or knowledge about it.

Would we let Joe the Plumber be our brain surgeon? I don't care how many critters he practiced on, I'd like to see some formal training.
