New York City Could Receive Up To A Foot Of Snow

NY1 News Sunday, March 1, 2009

ny1.com

March will likely "come in like a lion," as the city could receive up to a foot of snow by tomorrow morning.

The city received a dusting of snow this morning, but a northeaster is predicted to bring heavy snows between 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Between seven to nine inches of snow are expected by 7 a.m. Monday and a total accumulation of about a foot will occur by noon.

Travel will be dangerous throughout the city and the surrounding area from late tonight to 7 a.m. Monday.

Airports will likely be closed at points between tonight and Monday morning, and flight delays will stretch into Tuesday.

City buses will have major delays, as trains and above-ground subways could have signal problems that lead to delays.

Street snow removal will continue through Tuesday to facilitate commutes.

This storm is expected to be the biggest snowfall since the blizzard of February 2006, which brought 26 inches.
