Mr. Cornbread, Here is a quick synopsis of our weekend shopping and observations and maybe a little advice or warning about a possible coming shortage of lead.
Yesterday, we went to our favorite coin shop and bought a little silver in small bars (5-10 oz) and rounds, the place was buzzing.. She advised to buy in small lots, small bars, coins etc so that you can use them individually for trade or purchase.. Makes sense to me..
Then went to Sportman's Warehouse to get a little lead.. The shelves were EMPTY.. I tell you EMPTY.. It was SURREAL..
Then to Costco, it was booming of course..
So we went to Scheels this morning hunting for that elusive lead, just as big or bigger than Cabelas and not quite as bad but NO 38 Special, had about 5 boxes of 357 Mag so I grabbed two, plus a few couple boxes of shotgun and rifle shells .... Left a few 357s for the next poor basturd..:) Anyway a clerk told me they ordered 12 cases of 38 sp and got just ONE this past week... And prices are going UP, big time.
So when checking out, I asked the girl how the ammo sales were going, "biggest item right now", she said.. Also said, she had a 2k sale of just ammo this morning and in the last week or two, had an 8K sale JUST in ammo. I am always chatting with the retail workers to get a feel of things.. It helps..
Chatted with a customer, telling him about how empty Sportsman's Warehouse was and he told me if I wanted to get anything at Sportsman's W, I had to get there at 11:00 am Thursdays when they deliver.. Everything will be gone in an hour or so..
So I guess people are preparing for the worst and praying for the best..
And these are big stores, nationwide..
