JF, according to a recent CNN (Clinton News Netwrork) poll, President Clinton has a 60% approval rating. It's sad to think that 60% of the voting public wants to reelect him. Frankly, I think its the older folks who have bought into the scare tactics or lies of medicare and social security cuts. Benefits that I and many others of the twenty and thirty something generation will never see.

Cracker's reply to you regarding taxes is right on target. My parents starting their family in the 1960's had 5% interest rates on their mortgage and paid significantly less taxes then I do today. It was a family with one wage earner who could carry the burden. With 50% of our gross earnings going towards taxes, it is impossible for many middle income families to provide the same standard of living that they enjoyed as a child with just one wage earner. The only way for anyone to acquire any kind of significant wealth today is to maxmize one's contributions to tax deferred investments, ie., 401K plans, IRA's etc. Yet isn't it crazy to have to be cash poor in order to stay ahead of Uncle Sam's hand in my pocket.

Regarding who goes to jail first, I think it's Hillary. And McDougle is giong to bring her down on the dealings with "Castle Grande," (Whitewater). The Travel Office fiasco is nasty also.

On another note, you may remember that a week before the 1992 election, a democratic aligned federal prosecutor indicted Cap Weinberger over some Iran/Contra stuff. It was a cheap shot that took the wind out of the sails of the Bush/Qualye team. I can remember all major networks gleefully reporting the story the Friday before election day. Bush pardoned Weinberger before he left office. I'm sure Kenneth Star remembers this cheap shot and you can bet his case is going to be air tight before the indictments come down.
