It is a prank played by computer programming students at UBC. They have an AI project that is programmed to inflame, incite and aggravate with provocative statements that continually escalate. You have heard of deep blue for chess? This is deep brown for mining boards. The idea is partially a sociological experiment to see if neurotic frustration can induce people to abandon their interests and doubt their sanity and commitment to a cause. It was experimentally tried with great success by Goebbels to influence the German electorate, and by the Liberal party of Canada to get re-elected for 40 years. It is called mass hypnosis, mind control, the power of suggestion and hidden persuasion. It was first found to be effective instinctively by orators, and later by 19th and 20th century psychologists such as Freud, Maslow, Jung, Adler and Mesmer. Its precepts are adopted by salesmen, Toastmasters Club, and all sorts of self-help gurus. The precepts can be applied on the self, and were outlined in a book by Maxwell Maltz, called Psychocybernetics. It can be used for both good persuasion and dissuasion. One way to avoid people influencing you in this manner is to avoid eye contact! EC<:-}
