That's true that the Dems won, but right now the GOP is trying to paint Obama as a socialist because he wants to let the Bush tax cuts expire. This author doesn't see it that way.

I think what the GOP and Dems are going to find is that to clean up our government's financial house, we're going to have to BOTH cut spending and increase taxes. GOP denials of the need to increase taxes are simply delusional and Dem creeping profligacy is also delusional. Both policies are leading us to a very bad place.

This is why I like Bush Sr, Gingrich and Clinton when it came to fiscal matters. Bush raised taxes and so did Clinton. They were both right. It lead to surpluses and boom times.
