Some of my most favorite subwoofers are made by Velodyne. I've owned a model called the SPL-1200 for many years now, and have been delighted by both its power and its musicality. I've also been very happy with Velodyne's service. The subwoofer had a minor problem when I first got it (secondhand), and they were great about working with me to get it fixed.

Anyway, I very occasionally get their newsletter e-mail, and the one I got today links to this interesting story about how one company is using Velodyne subwoofers to enhance the low end bass response of pipe organs in churches. Somewhat ironic, as low pipe-organ notes are often used to test or demonstrate subwoofers.
