The other side of the equation that's not being told is gun safety means keeping your ammunition and guns separate. It also means keeping your guns locked up.

The paranoid, home invasion defense justification for gun ownership does not mesh with safe gun storage. It probably does make people feel like Clint Eastwood when they take their piece out on their porch and announce to the kids, "Get off of my lawn!"

Oh, another point is most people who are murdered are done in by someone they know, not a stranger.

I have no problem with gun ownership. I'm actually a very good marksman, likely due to my 20/13 eyesight. My issues are more the paranoia folks feed upon to rationalize excessive attachment to weapons and unsafe ownership.
