Now here's interesting news from Galleycat today about ebook apps being so popular on Iphone. Still I'm not sure this is that indicative--I downloaded Stanza and I downloaded some ebooks but I never read them. The Iphone is a marvel and a miracle but the reading experience for books is just not there. If they make an Ipod Touch with a bigger screen for books, maybe--but I still can't make notes in the margin:

Book Applications Post Huge Gains in iTunes

In the last twelve weeks, the number of applications uploaded to the "Books" category of the iTunes App Store has jumped from 551 to 2065 unique applications.

Those impressive numbers make "Books" the category with the most growth out of the whole Apple App Store, according to O'Reilly Radar. The post also breaks down e-book app pricing in the store, discovering that 56 percent of all e-book apps are sold for .99 cents or less.

Here's more from the article: "When I talk to iPhone developers, I get the impression they're actively conducting pricing experiments. No surprise that publishers are also conducting their own test-and-learn pricing studies. While the iPhone is attracting e-book readers, gaming apps continue to be the most popular." (Via jafurtado)
