Bush and the Reps ideology stripped regulation. Please tell us exactly which regulation was "stripped" by Bush and the Rs that resulted in this collapse. The crooks on Wall Street ran wild. Yeah. People like Robert Rubin? Is that who you mean? Or are you referring to Franklin Raines? AIG sold fake "insurance" without a nickle to back it up. It wasn't "fake insurance", but they clearly didn't use good judgment. But ultimately, the AIG crisis was caused by the Ds in Congress who REQUIRED lenders to lend money to unqualified borrowers. At the bottom line, this entire crisis is on the backs of the Ds in Congress. Now, AIG clearly made mistakes as did others. But if you want to place blame somewhere, and I do, the Ds in Congress are the most culpable entity.
