Tue Mar 3, 2009 In the biggest foreign policy disaster of his weeks-long presidency, Obama made a blunder that only a rank amateur would be capable of. He proposes to Medvedev in a "secret letter" offering to put the missile shield on hold in return for Moscow's intervention in helping stop Iran from developing long-range nuclear weapons. Medvedev immediately replied saying they're not going to get involved with unproductive "haggling". Essentially, slamming the door in Obama's face. That's not the worst of it, however. To begin with there is no evidence to suggest that Medvedev could do anything about Iran. Not only has this incompetent move left the United States looking foolish in the eyes of the world, it has left the Czech Republic and Poland twisting in the wind. No competent world leader would behave in this manner.
