One could just as easily argue that it's increasing perceptions as to just how deep and wide and long this economic downturn is. That it's much too early for any serious effect from the Obama administration to be measured.

The previous administration presided over an S&P500 slide from 1440 to 800 in its last year or so. If the markets preferred their budgetary philosophy so much, how can that be explained?
