As for Wales vs S. England, the climate between the two is not all that different. In fact, Wales might be slightly warmer and wetter because it faces the Gulf Stream as it comes across the Atlantic. For an example, in southwestern England which is due south of Wales, one type of palm tree grows there but rarely is found in southeastern England. Therefore, if the grasses are different between Wales and southern England, its more likely a matter of fashion rather than dependent on climate.

Ted I have been there. Wale's may be a bit warmer in the winter, I don't know. But Southern England is a lot warmer in the summer with high's in the 80's, Wales rarely gets above 70 degrees. Constant cool temperatures and rain does indeed make rain greener, as it is greener here in the spring than the summer.
