Of course, I know Bush wanted the missile shield in Poland. It was his pet project. Obama has not backed off from it at all. Rather, he is using it as a bargaining chip.

We need to step back and assess what our needs are. Do we really need a missile shield in Poland? I'd say, maybe, but only if Iran becomes a threat. If we can get help from Russia to neutralize the Iran threat, what purpose would spending billions of dollars on a missile shield serve?

The fact is Obama is being smart. He's never once said unequivocally that he was nixing the missile shield. If you believe he has, show me proof. If you can produce that proof, I'll agree that it wasn't smart to do that. But I don't remember him saying that at all.
