My point is that no court that I'm aware of has ever recognized the dollar value of their efforts, so where they can only be awarded non-economic damages (e.g., pain and suffering) and/or punitive damages that are a multiple of their economic damages (or have a relatively low-dollar cap), they are screwed, especially if they have a case that requires expert testimony.
