Jim- Your thinking of Polycythemia Vera which is increased RBC production which can cause severe coagulation problems. I don't think Hextend would be effective in that disease state because the problem is too many blood cells. Hextend would just make the patient fluid overloaded and not treat the problem. It might work in an emergent situation though. I'll have to check with some of the hematologists I know. Anyway, I don't think P.Vera is a huge disease. It's raining here in Philly so I'm sure your not going to have a pretty weekend on the bay. I fish often and always wanted to get down to the Chesapeak for stripers but never have been able. I hear they are making a great comeback recently. Oh well, one day. Have a good weekend, Rich
