Michael

Nothing would radically alter my view of government spending more than getting on a fairtax or NST where the tax rate is based on what government actually NEEDS rather than increasing national debt without bound.

If the American People could see, "Hey we spent too much last year so our tax rate is going up this year as a result", then it totally changes my outlook. In this way, if we can AFFORD health care, I don't have a problem with it.

My problem is what Obama, and Bush before him, and Clinton before him, and every president for decades has done -- is to propose budgets they know can't be paid for, merely adding to the debt total. Now, to be sure, Obama is the worst in history. No question about it. But they're all guilty of it and if the people UNDERSTOOD their family's share of the debt is nearly a half million dollars, they would not be supporting what this guy is doing. They absolutely would not.
