Yes. And re: lower demand than anticipated w/Pentium II...PII is a difficult transition product for intc. They put their firepower in going to full 32 bits w/backward compatibility. This, combined w/greater robustness, makes PII/NT systems more robust and Vastly more scalable (through multiprocessors or extended server duty).

But PII's add very little to desktop application, or for that matter, most any single end application's, performance.

Its been a tough sell.

Merced will be much easier since it squarely attacks an established market.
