This is what I don't get: "In 2003 Bush tried frantically to reign in Fannie and Freddie so that this crisis wouldn't happen. Bush tried to stop this, but the democrats in Congress said no. " The Republicans had solid majorities in the House and a two seat majority in the Senate. Who cared if the democrats said "no" if the system was flawed? Why did Bush back down?
