Obama's appointments do not bear the hallmarks of a professional plan. Not only has he run into big trouble with his appointees in Congress and had to withdraw many of them, he has appointed some before vetting them (like Chas Freeman), and withdrawn others after calling to congratulate them (like Gen. Zinni). Many posts at Treasury and other departments remain empty, without even proposed names to fill them. I mention Treasury because it's the most urgent in this crisis. There is no Undersecretary of the Treasury, nor any name proposed.

To quote Napoleon, never ascribe to malice that which can adequately be explained by incompetence.
