just my observation is that politics is being blamed for this market and honestly I don't think its that. I think it is all this fraud. For the tech companies like GOOG I am quite certain the market/stock is worse than the economy for these names. Business is not that bad, not as bad as 2002 for SURE. Whats bad is the sentiment towards the market. Madoff and then Stanford takes the cake. The govt started this by prosecuting people like Nacchio and Dell for stuff that was not fraud, that was the foray into it, then they charged all kinds of people so when the REAL fraud comes along, it looks like the entire market is a racket. There are people that have been saying this all along like loudmouth Mark Cuban but until recently nobody paid too much attn to that. Now it looks to the public like Cuban was right. the problem is the stock market in the US is the growth driver fundamentally. If nobody can IPO you don't get VC investing and then the next google aint happening. Its a very bad vicious cycle. I want the SEC to leave the good companies like Apple and Dell alone and *selectively* prosecute real fraud. Not everybody for every grey area accounting rule. Nor the "housing bubble". that was not fraud.
