Pascal,

I am impressed with your knowledge but the problem with us engineer (I assume you are) is that we tend over analyze everything. This kind of analysis works well in the engineering field but not in the financial field. I don't know enough about SYSF and PTEC products to be able to discuss whether you're right or wrong but a product does not have to be technically superior to be marketable. Proof: in the old days, Apple had superior products than Microsoft. But Microsoft outsold Apple because IBM chose Microsoft OS. The same argument applies here: SYSF has alliance with Intel, Microsoft, IBM, ... so their products will sell. Intel does not seem to give much support to PTEC.

Talking about stocks, we are at the whim of the stock analysts who know nothing about the technical stuff. If they want a stock to go up, that stock will go up. For example late last year, all the analysts talked about NSCP and the internet co. Their stocks went up drastically even for companies that have little earning or none while MSFT stock went down. I made the mistake by not jumping on the Internet bandwagon but I wish I bought NSCP early and sold it at the peak and then bought Microsoft at the low. So lesson learned: don't ever argue with the market.

You can say that I am biased towards SYSF because I own its stock. That's probably true to some degree but I could sell SYSF now at a profit (I bought at 19) and buy PTEC. But I choose SYSF over PTEC because I think that SYSF will go up faster than PTEC. Technically speaking, I am not saying that SYSF is superior to PTEC but I don't want to argue with the market.
