It's interesting that most people/media that I see talking about this bear market, really treat it as something that is unconnected to the bursting of the tech bubble.

Over on the PfP thread this was posted comparing four different crashes (one of which is crash of 2000)

Where I see the problem is that they are comparing the Dow vs Dow when for 1929 they would obviously use the DOw, but for the tech bubble, you really have to use the COMP.

From 1932 to 1937 the Dow rallied 450%...but then it got cut in half again through 1939.

as far as cycles go, I don't think you can say the market shook off the total effects of the crash of 1929 until the 1942 low. That was 13 years after.

We are only 9 years into the process IMHO and this current bear is entirely connected to the crash of 2000.
