octavian, TBT is a play on the devaluation of the dollar and the idea people will stop pouring money into the united states to fund our addiction to debt and credit. to any discerning eyes, this nation is already completely bankrupt. look at how much interest GM would need to pay in order to issue bonds right now. the us government is probably in worse shape (except they can print money, GM can't).

gold is a play that people eventually lose confidence in fiat money as the governments try and print their way out of this depression.

TBT may take a while, but i don't see interest rates going much lower in the short to medium term. who would lend GM money for 30 years at 3%? only a total moron. they are out there, but they are also wising up.

i have mixed feelings about gold. i think it goes up big, but i also think i'll need to invest in a shotgun or two to protect the homestead.
