One thing that intriges me is the HWP/Verifone combo. Seems like involvement in the metering/billing of bits is not too far fetched a concept for Vertel.

Also, there are many alliances forming. I just reread the news about HWP & Siemens (post #788). The Siemens group working with HP did 5B sales in the past 9 months. Of coarse, Siemens is working with NN on an MCI deal. I think the MSFT involvement adds further to the critical mass and maybe will give HWP/Vertel a competitive advantage - though I think network management work MSFT is doing is probably fairly open involving multiple vendors (they just have to include explorer;).

I've got to agree with you that this looks like an investment, not a short term flip.
