I think this threads become too politicalized in the past month, no? Look at some of the new contributers who hang out here now.

With that said I do believe the recently enacted spending bill with its realted programs are contributing to the decline as they correlate with future inflation and weakening return on investments in equities.

Ditto with the proposed budget for 2010, just look at biotech index, its discounting the price controls on health related items (drugs, devices, etc.). I'm not saying this is a bad thing (considering we let Canada do it but not our goverment) just its adversely impacting the underlying equities (adversely if you are long, not short).
