what if somebody said they want to make sure that welfare does not go to 'Just' undereducated black people?

Would such subtly in language and meaning be accepted in this case? And would people just say "oh he just wants to make sure everybody gets welfare money equally"?

I don't think so. I think it would immediately be a huge issue and he would have to apologize etc..and I think that it would be wrong to say...but I also think what he DID say was also wrong, and don;t understand making excuses for him...I strongly believe the excuses are because of who was attacked, not because of how he said it...

I find it incredible a person can say something on camera and people will watch it and then turn around and deny that the person said what they just said if it happens to disturb their preconceived notions and political leanings too much to admit the truth about what was just plainly stated right before them...

It really makes me feel hopeless about the future if people are so conditioned to partisan politics that even such blatant items such as what Reich said on TV have to be argued. What that tells me is that more difficult to access information, such that might be written, or transcribed or interpreted from a group of sources is likely being even more distorted and misrepresented and misunderstood by those who will quickly and readily play 'sports team politics'...

If there can be real arguments about what Reich said.....well what hope do we have as a society of coming to some sort of understanding about more obtuse things? I can't see how it can work at all, people can not even be honest with themselves about what happens right in front of their face, and are willing to make excuses and lie about things they would call wrong in other situations, as long as they feel 'their guy' or ' their cause' is being promoted over another. Truth and justice seems to be very variable, very political, and I can't see how anything good can come from it...

The endless democrat/republican fighting is depressing and total waste of time and energy.. however not even so called 'intelligent' or 'informed' people seem to be able to keep themselves from playing these endless petty games.
