Folk wisdom also says good news should be given at once while bad news held on to until the last moment. As cos will learn husbanding good news for an appropriate moment, say Nov 6th, risk the news being overtaken by other events whic make it insignificant. Legalities make it more difficult to not release bad news instantly. I can live with that but while I understand the desire to release good news at the moment , in theory, it will create the most impact I still think this is a mistake.

The price of XOMA stock is an important factor in any negotiation for a deal with another co. The other side knows from the acton of the stock how eager a co is for a deal. While they still must worry about someone else closing them out stock price remains an important factor.
