I guess my friend is up a creek without a paddle? The way to handle diabetes is diet and lifestyle. Once you understand it, you don't have to spend a lot of time with Doctors and expensive meds. Your friend should spend a lot of time on the Internet researching the condition and finding out what needs to be done. If it's type II, and your friend is overweight, number one is diet. The secret is to take charge of your own health, rather than be a brainless scarecrow waiting for some Wizard of Oz doctor to solve the problem.
