Re: "even the Taliban:" You mean... following exactly the same approach that Bush did with the Sunni Tribal Chiefs in Iraq --- trying (successfully, as it turns out), to bribe them and induce them to part ways with their radical former allies such as al Qaeda, and quit killing Americans, to turn on their former radical Islamicist allies. Hey... if it worked once, it might work again.... I do belive that Prez. Obama is not following exactly the same same approach as you state above by bribing factions to create a temporary 'surge' to gain a battle advantage for a temporary advantage. Prez. Obama is reaching out to Radical Islamists in the erroneous belief that he can barter a peace with a peoples whose very core World View & Religious Beliefs center on the concept of World Dominion and the Imposition of Sharia Law. A.)That is quite different that creating a temporary alliance. B.) Prez. Bush was also ignorant of Islamist issues - otherwise he would not have committed U.S. forces to a war that is bankrupting our counrty and coalescing Islamic Extremists against the U.S.
