Survivalism is not needed in the US. Perhaps in countries less well endowed with natural resources and infrastructure on per capita basis, it's a good idea, but the US already has everything it needs to run self-contained at a pretty reasonable lifestyle -- say, one car per family rather than one per person. There was no breakdown during the Depression with 25% unemployment and far less resources and infrastructure. Why should there be a breakdown now?
