Whoever operates as incumbent on the software side is most likely going to create a next generation solution that takes advantage of hardware security when the time comes and that works with their legacy system. And this will be very persuasive when it comes to switching over units from one generation to the next. Aside from which, the incumbents will be learning what kind of tools clients want, deriving an income stream, and generally making the impure mistake of making money out of which they can finance their future!!

I think Wave, and Wavoids, consistently underappreciate the importance of incumbency and functionality in favour of security. Which is one key philosophical reason the company keeps on succeeding at one thing ... failing to get upgrades.
