East Asia is getting a wake up call.

Yeah, I know. Just bringing up a relatively new aspect. During the last depression most nations could feed themselves. Now it's global. And a change at the margin can make a big difference.

Especially if you, say, can't move the food because international credit won't allow you to import fuel.

Things are much more fragile.
