I do agree that Paul Volcker is one of the sharpest knives in the drawer, as far as economists go. He did a superb job as Fed Chairman.

I will also point out that on another thread, I said that reinstating the Glass-Steagall act was one of the first things the government should do with respect to making structural changes in the banking system. I said that just yesterday.

Nice to hear that Volcker agrees with that idea, even though after I posted it I thought that it was an example of locking the barn door after the horse has been stolen. It doesn't really solve our present problem, but it should still be done to prevent this situation from developing again.
