Stu,
My thoughts: I bought Altera yesterday at $45. I had put in a limit order which executed at the open. Unfortunately, I could have got it below $42 I think.
I am buying this based on value and expectations for growth. Why do you say
"And the growth investors aren't seeing the growth they used to in the stock, so they're gone or going. Since there isn't much chance of seeing value investors in this one ..."
My sources say the 5-yr projected growth rate is 28.5%. True, that's down from $45% the last five, but it's still good. And if I look out to mid 98, earnings are expected to be $2.11. I expect the stock to be worth $60 then. That's a 33% gain in 8 months if it plays out like I expect.
I think the stock is worth $50 right now.
I agree the chart certainly does not look good. But trends continue right up until they change. I look at fundamentals. Yeah the stock is falling, but I can't explain why, except for the obvious: selling pressure, overall tech sell off, the Asia currency thing, etc ...
I don' t understand your pessimistic outlook for Altera. Is there something you know that I don't? If so please inform me.
Thanks.
Stu Bishop
P.S. I like your name too; classy sound to it. It reminds me of sophisticatioin, intelligence, savvy, wisdom, good judgement, and good looks. And the correct spelling helps as well. |
