What matters is how business is "helped." John posted an article on "Looting" upthread. It is worth reading. There are a number of people who are now wealthy businessmen who got to be wealthy (or at least much wealthier) essentially by using taxpayers to socialize their losses while they absconded with the profits from their enterprise. Helping business turns into a form of corporate welfare at a cost which dwarfs welfare for the poor, and impoverishes many others while enriching a few.
