Novellus Repeats Q1 View; Sees Pick Up In Spares Orders
Posted by Eric Savitz

Novellus (NVLS) CEO Rick Hill this afternoon repeated the company’s previous guidance for the first quarter, although he did say that there has been a “sharp pickup” in spares orders over the last several weeks. Hill said the business overall “continues to be very weak.”

While maintaining the guidance, Hill said on a mid-quarter conference call that there is “a bias toward the lower end of the guidance ranges” due to the current environment.

Bookings are expected to be down 25%-40% quarter over quarter. Shipments are expected to be $90 million to $100 million. Revenue is forecast to be $95 million to $110 million. The company expects to lose 45-60 cents a share in the quarter. The company expects its cash balance to be up slightly from the previous quarter “due to effective working capital control.”
