I don't think that's a lie.

For one thing its not totally false, even if it might be a bit of an exaggeration (or if your using a loose definition for socialist, its ignoring the socialist actions from Republicans).

For another if you believe something is true, than saying it isn't a lie.

And they aren't saying it "to serve clearly evil purposes".
