The Virginia Tech football team just completed Winter max testing, and 11 Hokies achieved Super Iron Hokie Status. Also, 10 players set new position records in Mike Gentry's strength and conditioning program.

Many young players who are sophomores or younger have already set position records. Here is a look at the records that went down last week. Note: All numbers come from the free side of BeamerBall.com.

New Position Records
Player Position Category Number
Greg Boone TE Back Squat 620-lbs
Darren Evans RB Front Squat 440-lbs
Danny Coale WR Front Squat 420-lbs
Tyrod Taylor QB Front Squat 385-lbs
Kam Chancellor FS Bench Press 380-lbs
Patrick Terry WR Vertical Jump 40.5"
Tyrod Taylor QB Power Clean 310-lbs
Lorenzo Williams FS Power Clean 331-lbs
Cody Grimm Whip Power Clean 326-lbs
Greg Nosal OT Power Clean 361-lbs
Jarrett Boykin WR Power Clean 331-lbs

Darren Evans, Danny Coale, Patrick Terry, Lorenzo Williams, Greg Nosal and Jarrett Boykin are all r-sophomores or younger, and Tyrod Taylor was in the same recruiting class as Evans, Coale, Terry and Nosal.

Speaking of Taylor, it's impressive that he broke two positions records this year. The Hokies have had some weight room warriors at quarterback throughout the years, including Jim Druckenmiller, Michael Vick, Bryan Randall and Sean Glennon. Taylor is putting himself in a position to have a good junior season.

Perhaps the most impressive record is the power clean record set by Lorenzo Williams. Williams played as a true freshman this past season, and this was his first year in Mike Gentry's weight room. He's not even 19 years old yet, and he already holds a Virginia Tech position record. It takes a special athlete to accomplish that feat.

11 Tech players achieved Super Iron Hokie status. They are: Greg Boone, Josh Call, Kenny Jefferson, Josh Oglesby, Kenny Younger, Demetrius Taylor, Kam Chancellor, Jake Johnson, Barquell Rivers, Tyrod Taylor and Dorian Porch.

Jake Johnson looks like Tech's next super-athlete in the weight room. This is his first year in the program, and he's already a Super Iron Hokie
