TG - thanks for finding that. However, I ended up doing what I should have done in the first place, but was too lazy: did a web search. I finally found a blurb that leads me to believe that Ushio is the correct spelling:

Low-output marking: Sales have begun of the Ushio (Tokyo, Japan) Unimark SC scanning-type continuous-oscillation CO2 laser marking equipment. The system marks using a lower output than conventional pulse-laser markers, allowing its use on packages containing food and beverages.

I didn't find any references to a solid-state laser operating in the DUV range, but this looks like good enough evidence that this is the company.
