I'm so very sorry, Gloop. A loss of a friend is just as hard as it is if he were a family member. One of my good friends Mom just died. Her Mom wrote to her 5 year old Granddaughter to "Look up in the sky in a few weeks for a shooting star....when you see one, you will know I made it to heaven".... Prayers to you all.
